The Coordinator Risk and Procurement leads the Risk and Procurement team which is responsible for ensuring Council is compliant with its obligations under various legislation / Guidelines including the Local Government Act 2020, the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and Local Government Best Practice Procurement Guidelines.
The team coordinates Council’s Audit and Risk Committee, insurances, Freedom of Information requests and leads the organisation’s procurement activities and Business Continuity Planning. It is also an integral part of the Financial Strategy Department which provides strategic financial advice, manages Council’s financial rating and valuations services, risk management services and procurement.
Reporting to the Manager Financial Strategy, this key role has responsibility for:
**Risk Management**
- Leading Council’s Internal Audit function, ensuring that reports are completed in a timely manner for the Executive and Audit and Risk Committee including reporting against open and closed actions as applicable.
- Maintaining Council’s operational and strategic risk registers and report on regularly to the Executive, Audit and Risk Committee and Council.
- Overseeing and maintaining Council’s Business Continuity Plan ensuring that it is periodically tested and updated across the organisation.
- Ensuring that Council’s Insurance program remains current, coverage is sufficient and regularly reviewed for best value.
- Ensuring that insurance claims are managed in a timely manner and reported on.
- Overseeing the Freedom of Information function, ensuring that Council’s legislative obligations are met and requests are responded to in a timely manner.
- Overseeing the administration of Council’s Audit and Risk Committee including the adherence to the Committee Charter and production of agendas and minutes.
**Procurement**
- Leading the organisation’s procurement and contract management function.
- Managing and improve Council’s procurement processes, ensuring best practice and highest ethical and probity standards are achieved.
- Ensuring Council’s Procurement Policy and Guidelines are maintained and updated as required.
- Carrying out other such duties required.
**ABOUT YOU**
As a proven risk and procurement professional, you have demonstrated experience working within a complex risk and procurement environment, with sound understanding of the Local Government Act 2020, Freedom of Information Act 1982 and Local Government Best Practice Procurement Guidelines. You will also have relevant tertiary qualifications.
You display experience in developing and leading organisational and service planning and reporting, proven ability to manage and lead a team, and an ambition to drive a continuous improvement culture. You will have highly developed written and oral communication skills, articulating information clearly and present a logical analysis and conclusion which is easy to read and understand. You are known for your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to liaise and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
