As a part of our growth strategy, we have an opportunity for a Procurement Manager, to join our Melbourne based business. This role reports to the Subcontracts Manager based in Melbourne and functionally to the Senior Procurement Manager, based in the UK.

Principal Responsibilities
- Provide direct local procurement support to the Project Team and global procurement stakeholders
- Assist with the strategic sourcing and evaluation of suppliers to provide supply chain resilience and industry development opportunities to support Australian Industry Capability (AIC) initiatives as directed by the Subcontracts Manager
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Inventory Management System.
- Execute Purchase Orders, Service Contracts and Frame Agreements with selected suppliers.
- Drive the standardisation, compliance and efficiency of procurement policies, processes and systems.
- Be cognizant of the supplier market and pricing trends to ensure that the business holds the market intelligence to make informed decisions.
- Manage and conduct supplier feedback and performance assessments.
- Determine the appropriate strategy to ensure the most efficient, economical and safe transportation of equipment and materials to site, within schedule and in accordance with import regulations.
- Provide advice and assistance to project managers and other business stakeholders on all procurement activities related to program of work including inventory management.
- Review and approve supplier invoices.
- Manage the supplier database and assist in the pre-qualification of new suppliers.
- Actively engage in strategic supplier management and development. Provide solutions for underperforming suppliers.
- Review and negotiate terms and conditions, interface with other disciplines and ensure back-to-back provisions with the Main Contract as necessary.
- Participate in the development of process improvement initiatives and value for money opportunities.
- Identify and mitigate risks, issues and opportunities with suppliers by determining root cause and developing mitigation strategies, and
- Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your managers from time to time.
**Requirements**:
- Qualification in a relevant study e.g. Supply Chain Management or Business Studies.
- More than 5 years procurement experience in a similar operating environment (preferably Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Construction or Defence industry)
- Extensive knowledge of all realms of supply chain management (e.g. procurement, subcontracting, expediting, logistics, inventory management & material control).
- Working with international suppliers including managing the international transportation and importation of goods & materials.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Training and mentoring experience
- Ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
- Training and mentoring experiences
- Demonstrated experience with a recognized procurement system; preferably, Oracle (Fusion).
- Demonstrated skills and experience implementing and managing externally certified Quality, Safety, Environmental systems, and general policies
