A new state government entity, MAP Co is responsible for the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project as well as the operations, programming, promotion and maintenance of Federation Square and the new Melbourne Arts Precinct public spaces.
Set to boost Melbourne's standing as a creative and cultural capital and to harness the immense potential of one of the most vibrant arts corridors in the world, MAP Co is delivering capital projects including the $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project.
The Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project will deliver The Fox: NGV Contemporary, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design; an 18,000 square metre public open space in the heart of the precinct; significant upgrades to the State Theatre; and new restaurants and bars throughout the space. When complete, the Melbourne Arts Precinct will shine a light on Australia's incredible creative talent and serve a global cultural tourist drawcard.

The Role
In this role you will be responsible for the initial receipt, assessment, and channel management of all incoming Fed Square event enquiries. These include venue hire of Fed Square and its available spaces, cultural festivals and National Days through to commercial activation. As the first point of contact for many Fed Square clients, this position is vital to ensuring that opportunities are handled efficiently and with superior customer service.
Accountabilities
Coordination of event enquiries and event booking calendar
- Manage, assess, and respond to all incoming event enquiries accurately and in a timely manner. This will include bookings across multiple venues throughout Fed Square.
- Maintain the event booking calendar, liaising with all internal stakeholders to ensure seamless and effective scheduling of third-party venue hires.
- Coordinate small scale community activity across site including public gatherings, demonstrations and flag raisings.
- Maintain database and knowledge capture systems, generate required reports
Business Development
- Increase venue sales with the utilisation of MAP Co marketing assets
- Build relationships with clients with excellent customer service
- Maximise revenue by upselling venue services at every opportunity
- Assist in the preparation of client debriefs and reports including performance data, analytics, and ROI.
Your Experience
- Venue or event booking experience within a tourism destination, hotel, arts, entertainment, hospitality, or sporting industry
- Experience in the use of client database and/or event booking systems
- Exceptional customer service, both in verbal and written form
- Complex problem solving with a flexible, outcome focused and “can-do” attitude
- High attention to detail
- High level communication (including written) and interpersonal skills
- Development of key external relationships (commercial, civic, cultural and community) to ensure a reputation for excellence in the events industry
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and online meeting & collaboration software eg. (Teams & Zoom)
- The ability to effectively deal with varied stakeholders including but not limited to community groups, government, corporate clients and members of the public.
**Qualifications**:
Relevant qualification in venue management, events, business or related discipline would be desirable.
Skills in Ungerboek software and/or Dynamics 365 would be desirable.
