**About the role**:
Merri-bek City Council is looking for a suitably experienced practitioner to fill the position of Industry Facilitation Officer. The role will focus on facilitating economic and industry development across Merri-bek’s exciting range of sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, construction, design and creative industries, professional services, and more - including Merri-bek’s emerging innovation and BioMedTech start-up scene. The role also involves managing Council’s relationship with the operators of the Brunswick Design and Innovation (‘BRUDI’) business hub, working with Council’s procurement team to help increase Merri-bek’s procurement from local businesses and social enterprises, and assisting Merri-bek’s businesses to be more socially and environmentally sustainable.

As a member of the Economic Development team you will work primarily with fellow Economic Development practitioners, as well as the Environment, Social Policy and Procurement team, as well as others Council Units to help support and develop Merri-bek’s key local industry sectors. This position will report to the Unit Manager Economic Development and will work on a varied and interesting range of programs and projects, including the BRUDI business hub, Council’s Local Supplier Register initiative and a new BioMedTech ecosystem development plan, that is waiting to be developed and shaped.

**Skills and experience require to perform the role**:

- A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline
- Knowledge of industry development, investment, and labour market issues
- Excellent analytical and project & program management skills
- Sound networking and stakeholder relationship management skills
- Demonstrated commercial and business acumen
