Finance Business Partner

**The Opportunity**:
The **Finance Business Partner (FBP) **is responsible for creating a trusted partnership between finance and the operations and management of a business unit. The FBP will provide financial and analytical support to add value in driving business group financial performance, supporting the budgeting and forecast process and ensuring financial control of the business group’s operations.

Role can be located in either** Sydney or Melbourne** office.

**What you’ll do**:
**Business partnering**
- Primary point of contact for financial matters for the respective business group
- Drive best practice and decision making by providing timely updates on financial performance
- Key advisor to the business group on project financials, working capital management and optimisation of financial outcomes
- High level involvement in strategic planning for the group (top down)

**Business performance management and reporting**
- Review and forecast pipeline, backlog and working capital requirements for the business group
- Prepare the P&L down to Operating Profit for the business, including a detailed variance analysis
- Validate and ensure P&L accuracy and completeness
- Prepare accruals and accounting journals to accurately report business profitability and reflect revenue recognition

**Planning and analysis**
- Prepare the annual budget, detailed bottom-up calculations and high-level summaries for the business group
- Prepare and report on the quarterly forecasts
- Ad hoc analysis for the business group to support the business unit management and regional management needs
- Review and forecast pipeline, backlog and working capital requirements for the business group

**Compliance and control**
- Ensure the project accounting and administrative setup is in accordance with revenue recognition policy.
- Review of projects to obtain evidence of compliance with NI 52-109 (Canadian listing requirements)
- Point of contact for the Group’s internal and external auditors for project testing and revenue recognition samples

**What we’ll love about you**:
An astute finance professional with a solid understanding of accounting principles, contracts and project accounting in a services industry. The FBP should be a trusted advisor for the business group, capable of guiding the group to achieve its financial requirements and strategic goals.
- CA / CPA qualified (or working towards), or suitably equivalent professional accreditation
- 5+ years’ experience in a management accounting and project based environments. Good understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to communicate with and influence key / senior stakeholders
- Excellent inter-personal skills with an ability to consolidate complex data into a structured and organised financial picture
- Strong excel and some exposure to business intelligence reporting capability
- Forecasting and budgeting in a large organisation
- Excellent systems knowledge including large ERPs (SAP, Oracle etc), MS Office, Power-BI and KPI reporting
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with an ability to consolidate complex data into a structured and organised financial picture
