About Us
The Queensland Parliamentary Service is seeking a full-time Publishing and Monitoring Officer to join the Parliamentary Reporting and Broadcasting Service (PRBS). The PRBS is dedicated to supporting the Queensland Parliament, its Committees, and Members by providing accurate, timely, and accessible reports of parliamentary proceedings. We also broadcast these proceedings over the internet, ensuring transparency and public engagement.
About the Role
**Key responsibilities will include**:
**Publishing and Support Services**: Provide comprehensive services for producing and distributing reports on parliamentary proceedings, committees, and other events. This includes both hard copy and electronic formats.
**Cost-Effective Procedures**: Assist with the development and implementation of procedures to ensure the production and distribution of transcripts are cost-effective.
**Audio-Visual Broadcasts**: Assist in operating the console for the audio visual broadcast of the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Committees.
**Report Preparation**: Prepare, format, deliver, and publish reports of parliamentary proceedings and other events in both camera-ready and electronic formats.
**Production Techniques**: Assist with the continuing development of production techniques using various software packages to ensure the maintenance of product quality and continuing cost-effectiveness.
**Editorial Corrections**: Make approved editorial corrections to proof reports and format them for final publication and archiving.
**Your skills you bring to the role**:
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with desktop software packages such as Publisher, Excel, Word, Access, and Acrobat Exchange.
Proficient in document conversion, character and image scanning, electronic messaging, information retrieval, and secure electronic archiving.
Sound knowledge of English language and usage.
Ability to work under pressure and effectively organise and prioritise work commitments to meet tight deadlines.
Your ability to thrive in an environment where teamwork and open communication drive success.
**Additional Hours**:
The Legislative Assembly and its Estimate Committees sit an average of 50 sitting days per year. Additional hours are required during parliamentary sitting weeks. The position is required to work for at least the duration of the sitting day which includes some overtime. Parliamentary sitting days are usually completed by 9.30 pm but may continue beyond that time. The occupant of the position is required to work for up to two hours after the completion of a sitting day on a rotational basis.
