**The Role**
Our Workplace Relations Officers undertake complex workplace and industrial relations roles, including policy reform and development across a range of pay and employment conditions, for Australian Public Service (APS) employees. This work shapes the way Defence manages and supports its APS workforce.
Key responsibilities of these roles include:
- Research, analysis and implementation of legislation, the Defence enterprise agreement, policies and procedures;
- Development and reform of policy compliant with legislation and tailored to meet the unique requirements of the Department of Defence;
- Provide support in the management of industrial relations matters and complex case resolution;
- Engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders in order to achieve business outcomes;
- Build workforce capability by providing complex policy advice and guidance;
- Development of business processes to allow the team to operate efficiently and effectively; and
- Work collaboratively in a geographically dispersed team.
Please note that while the positions are being advertised in Canberra, successful applicants who are located elsewhere will not be required to relocate and will be permitted to work remotely. Due to this, relocation assistance will not be provided.
**About our Team**
The APS Workplace Relations (APSWR) team within the Defence People Group provide contemporary workplace and industrial relations expertise, including; people policy, remuneration and employment conditions and dispute management for Defence APS employees.
APSWR comprises teams focusing on; Employment, Conditions, Remuneration, Stakeholder Engagement and Disputes. The team is responsible for bargaining and implementing the Department’s enterprise agreement.
Our team is based in Canberra, with team members working remotely throughout Australia and flexible working arrangements are supported. We value our team members and foster a positive team culture.
