**Please note, this opportunity is for Ongoing APS employees only.**

**Please discuss the possibility of release with your manager before applying.**

**The Role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Cabinet Liaison Officer (CLO) will support a team of experienced CLOs to facilitate DEWR’s engagement with policy development and feedback processes that inform consideration by Australia’s chief decision-making body - the federal Cabinet. We are seeking to fill the position for a period of at least 6 months, with possibility of extension.
The APS5 CLO will assist with:

- Day-to-day liaison with stakeholders to monitor the status of upcoming Cabinet business.
- Preparing daily reporting on the status of Cabinet activity for the department’s Executive.
- Managing the secure circulation of material through the CabNet+ system to relevant areas of the department for action, in line with the need-to-know principle.

This is a dynamic role with an emphasis on developing and maintaining positive, service-based relationships with a broad spectrum of regular stakeholders, our ministers’ offices and counterpart CLOs across the APS.
Note: This role carries periodic after-hours duties, shared across the team through an on-call roster system and generously compensated through a combination of restriction allowance, flex credits and overtime pay as applicable.

**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking one individual with the following skills and capabilities:

- Clear, effective communicative ability
- Responsive and able to adjust to shifting priorities
- Sound judgement and discretion
- Attention to detail and a strong focus on client service delivery
- Enthusiasm to develop core public service knowledge and skillsets
- Proactive and forward-thinking

Knowledge of, or prior experience with, Cabinet or other Parliamentary functions would be highly regarded but is not essential as training will be provided.
A Negative Vetting 1 security clearance (or the ability to obtain one) is required for this role.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and/or APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 6 months.

**Eligibility**

**How to Apply**
Applicants are required to provide up to a one-page summary (no more than 500 words) that outlines skills, knowledge, and experience and why you should be considered for this vacancy. You should take into consideration the position overview (including any detailed position specific requirements) when drafting your response.
