The role: As a Market Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating advertising strategies and events. The research you conduct will determine the market for new services as well address and develop market opportunities for new and existing events or services. What is required of you: - Analysing data regarding consumer patterns and preferences - Liaising with stakeholders, executives and clients regarding advertising strategies and events to reach target markets, creating consumer awareness and effectively promoting the attributes of the Events - Working collaboratively with the sales department to plan, develop and organise advertising policies and events to support the sales objectives - Reaching out to potential keynote speakers and getting them to jump onboard with our current campaigns - Commissioning and undertaking market research to identify market opportunities for new and existing Events - Preparing and executing marketing objectives, policies and programs to support the growth of the business - Researching potential demand and market characteristics for new goods and services and collecting and analysing data and other statistical information - Coordinating production of advertising campaigns involving specialised activities, such as artwork, copywriting, media scripting, television and film production and media placement, within time and budget constraints - Interpreting and predicting current and future consumer trends - Advising on all elements of marketing such as product mix, pricing, advertising and sales promotion, selling, and distribution channel Competencies: - Superior written and verbal communication on the phone is an absolute must - A degree in a relevant field i.e. marketing, communications, PR, social science, psychology, or arts - Prior entry level corporate work experience is required - Ability to influence and negotiate with senior decision makers - Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required - Ability to "push back" on receiving information and meeting tight deadlines on time - Display a switched on, professional, and resilient attitude Prerequisites: - Tertiary qualification highly regarded, but not an essential requirement - 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a qualification
