Melbourne, Australia S2M Full time

High profile role.
- $$$ neg to experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants in Melbourne or Sydney.

**Blockchain Australia is the peak industry body **representing Australian businesses and business professionals participating in the digital economy through blockchain technology.

Blockchain Australia aims to encourage the responsible adoption of blockchain technology by industry and governments across Australia, as a means to drive innovation, across all sectors of the economy.

**Blockchain Australia is a not-for-profit organisation.**

The new CEO will continue driving policy and advocacy thru already established strong government relationships while building the broader Blockchain ecosystem and the Association's membership base. The incoming CEO will also have the primary responsibility of delivering on a
**growing Blockchain Week**, which is the flagship and national event for Blockchain Australia.

**Reporting to the Chairman of the Board of Blockchain Australia**, the CEO will partner with the lean management team to deliver the Association’s objectives. Preference will be given to applicants in Melbourne or Sydney.

**PRIORITIES**

**1. Blockchain Week**: The incoming CEO will have the responsibility to deliver on a growing Blockchain Week, which is the flagship and national event for Blockchain Australia and brings all stakeholders together with a lean team and sourcing sponsorship or donated space and resources for the event.

Blockchain Australia’s Blockchain Week is the highest-profile event on which the financial success and growing membership of the association depends. The week requires significant advanced planning and leveraging existing membership and sponsors and bringing in new sponsors to run a multi-city, ticketed (and free for attendees) event.

**2. Relationships**: Selection should prioritise established mutually beneficial business relationships in the Blockchain and Digital Assets industry.

The success of this organisation over the past two years has been built on continued conversations with key stakeholders with the primary intention of building relationships. Connections are transferable, relationships are built and sustained through a transfer of mutual value.

**3. Policy Consultation & Engagement**: Experience in drafting and delivering policy submissions from an industry perspective through close engagement with the ecosystem, members, and regulators.

The weight of policy coming our way is significant. Treasury has advised on ongoing policy consultations over the next 18 months. The ATO is conducting a review of the Tax Treatment of Digital Assets which will be completed over the next 6 months. APRA released its policy and supervision priorities in February and plans to conduct consultations on requirements for the financial treatment of crypto-assets next year.

**4. Experience**: The incoming CEO must have the ability to zoom out, think on their feet, react to industry change, and deliver quickly. With industry associations becoming less relevant, the value must be delivered and tailored to the needs of our members.

What has worked for us is an agile and just-in-time approach. We are in an industry that is evolving rapidly with threats and opportunities daily. The nimble approach whereby we can respond quickly and effectively to adapt, and deliver is critical to the success of our organization. It is this approach that has ensured the timely delivery of Blockchain Week, The Blockies, and other events in a sea of postponed events and the unknown.

**5. Engagement**: The incoming CEO will deliver valued services to members by:

- Developing and maintaining effective membership networks and effective membership relationships through regular communication, engagement, and support.
- Coordinating a variety of Events and Webinars including Blockchain Week, the Blockies, industry roundtables, and educational opportunities.
- Providing a strong voice for the industry in promoting member interests in policy formation
- Developing and maintaining a strong presence within the local and international blockchain and digital asset industry

**Skills required to be successful in this role, include**:

- You have worked as a Senior Manager in the Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, or Emerging Tech industry or an Association.
- You will have a record of success with building a membership, customer base, and/or community.
- You will have built strong ties to the Government (State and Federal) and have strong stakeholder management skills.
- You will have a presence as an industry leader and spokesperson and understand the mechanics of running a membership organisation.
- You will be a strong influencer and have ideally been associated with education programs and events.
- You will have a strong record of building positive lasting relationships with stakeholders.
