**Service Designer**
- Federal Government Department
- Canberra Based
- Contract opportunity initial 12 months contract 2x12 months extension option
- Open to Australian Citizens with Baseline clearance
- Agile and, ideally, experience with the Commonwealth Digital Service Standard; including relevant work experience to deliver design and research activities and a range of industry artefacts including service blueprints
- We're looking for people with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement
- The Service Designers will require the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to communicate effectively and manage relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders; including team members, product owners and executives.

The department is seeking self-driven, curious individuals with a keen desire to learn, adapt, and make continuous improvement; being committed to seeing things through and delivering on key results and objectives.

**Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of**:

- Service Design and Delivery Process and Digital Service Standard
- User research methods
- Agile ways of working and scaled agile practices
- Experience design and accessibility in digital services.

**To be successful in this role, you should have**:

- Primarily demonstrated experience in leading stakeholders and project teams to generate journey maps, service blueprints, service models, and clearly articulate actionable insights and opportunities for service and experience improvement
- Demonstrated ability overseeing and participating in research activities, generating insights and effectively using qualitative and quantitative data to drive improvements
- Demonstrated experience working in an Agile team, including the ability to scope and break down work into design deliverables, and tailor methods and processes to set timeboxes
- Demonstrated experience using Miro, Figma, Microsoft PowerPoint and other software to communicate designs for executive and delivery teams

**It is desirable if you have**:

- Understanding of the Australian Government's Digital Service Standard and/or the UK Design Council's Double Diamond Model
- Experience working for a federal government agency in a design capacity
- Versatility across a wide range of user experience practices, including stakeholder engagement, information architecture, interaction design, UI/visual design, prototyping and testing.
