In this newly created role as Public Relations Manager, your primary responsibility with be to develop and execute public relations strategies for The LUME Melbourne in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction. You will focus on managing and enhancing the public image and reputation of The LUME Melbounre to ensure its high profile as the leader within the arts and culture space and solidify its reputation as Melbourne’s most visited cultural icon.
You will work closely with the in-house marketing team and work to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders; internal, media, government bodies and the public. We are looking for a creative and strategic thinker who can effectively communicate brand values and messages to a diverse audience.

**Key Accountabilities**:
- Develop and execute strategic PR plans to increase brand awareness and drive audience engagement.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, bloggers and influencers to secure media coverage for THE LUME Melbourne’s activities.
- Look beyond traditional art and culture sectors to identify and cultivate mutually beneficial PR-led partnership opportunities.
- Develop creative and compelling PR-driven activation concepts that leverage brand partnerships to enhance brand awareness and engagement.
- Create and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials to relevant media contacts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interview requests, coordinating responses and media opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, creative, and operations to align PR efforts with overall organisational goals.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive media database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date contact information.
- Monitor media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities and risks, providing timely reports and recommendations to senior management.
- Organise and manage media events, press conferences, and promotional activities, including guest lists, logistics, run sheets, talking points and media materials.
- Support crisis communication efforts, handling sensitive issues with professionalism and ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging PR trends, incorporating innovative approaches into our PR strategies.
**Key Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism or a related field
- Strong PR experience, ideally within the arts and entertainment space
- Strong understanding of media relations and existing relationships with journalists, media outlets and government bodies
- Exceptional written and very communications skills with the ability to craft compelling and concise messages for a range of audiences
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative PR campaigns and strategies
- Exceptional organisation skills and project management skills
- Ability to work at a fast pace and multi task
- Strong interpersonal skills, internal and external
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting
