**About us**
The Department of Regional NSW was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI), supports the development of profitable primary industries that create a more prosperous NSW and contribute to a better environment through sustainable use of natural resources.
Within NSW DPI, the Biosecurity & Food Safety Division is responsible for effective management and risk minimisation of biosecurity threats to NSW as well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk-based approach to policy and compliance and provides regional engagement and coordination in response to emergency incidents and natural disasters impacting primary industries and the food sector.
**About the role**
Undertake project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects, including operational policy and procedure development and legislative reform within established objectives. The role also provides a comprehensive range of high-level administrative services to the Director to support the efficient and effective operation of the Unit and the optimal utilisation of the Director’s time and resources.
**Working as a Project Officer you will**:
- Provide a range of project management and support services including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
- Identify and interpret relevant statutory provisions and prepare clear procedures for staff to provide clarity in the performance of their role
- Undertake the evaluation of operational policy and procedures to assess appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency, and to determine the need for corrective action and review
- Undertake research, evaluation and analysis to identify emerging issues and prepare recommendations to resolve policy or process issues and inform program activities
- Communicate with key stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committees and consultations to facilitate exchange of information to support policy and legislative requirements for the delivery of divisional activities
- Provide confidential executive support to the Director including the timely preparation of correspondence, briefs, reports, presentations and other essential documentation
- Manage the Director’s time commitments and diary to prioritise and filter information requests, communicate urgent matters for attention, refer operational matters to other staff, monitor deadlines and renegotiate deadlines if required
**Essential Requirements**
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Demonstrated extensive experience supporting senior executives.
- Experience in the development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
- You are customer centric with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- You are self-motivated and comfortable working as either a team member or in leading others
- You have demonstrated organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to proactively prioritise competing demands and achieve results with a customer focused approach
- You are flexible and adaptable to change
