**The Company**

Our client is a leader in providing tailored, independent contract agricultural research, conducting field trials in the major broadacre and horticultural cropping regions of Australia. With offices and staff strategically positioned, and providing a full suite of services, they are focussed on the successful development of new agricultural inputs and systems, ensuring their safe and effective use. The business is based on creating great relationships with clients, so are committed to open and consistent communication.

**The role**

With business growing rapidly, there is now an opening for a Business Manager - Southern to manage the southern business research unit, overseeing the field operations and logistics in the broadacre and horticultural regions of Victoria and South Australia. Reporting to the National Business Manager you will be responsible for all the commercial, managerial, technical and administrative areas of the unit’s business performance. This includes working closely with your team of 3 regional managers to ensure delivery of clients and trial objectives. The research work is comprehensive and diverse covering a wide range of crops across residue, efficacy and breeding trials. It is estimated that 80% of your time would be in the office and 20% in the field.

There is a requirement to travel at regular intervals to the regional offices.

**The Person**

The successful person will have the following skills and attributes:

- Commercial business & people management experience
- Confident, self-assured leader able to build rapport quickly and grow relationships with staff, clients, and growers
- Good observer and listener, with high attention to detail
- Ability to make decisions and adapt to changing environmental conditions
- Knowledge and interest in agriculture, particularly agronomy and crops grown in the region
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Agriculture/ Business /Commerce

You may have industry experience in crop protection, seed, retail distribution, research or Research Development Corporations (RDC’s).
