**About the role**

Santos is looking to appoint an Operations Specialist for our Perth Operations team. Reporting to the Operations Superintendent for Varanus Island, this position will provide day-to-day support in the coordination of operational activities to meet facility plans and production targets. The role is critical in delivering Operations Excellence assurance, in accordance with the company values and Santos Management System.

**Accountabilities are delivered in line with the Santos company values and Santos Management System (SMS). Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Management of the business risk profile and proactively mitigate potential risk
- Collaborate with Integrated Activity Planners, Site Leadership and other key stakeholders to deliver Facility Activity Planning and Execution Schedules that are aligned to deliver goals and mitigate threats
- Ensure the coordination of all internal and external support services to meet objectives and targets
- Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and driving efficiencies
- Monitor and track process upsets to ensure that the cause is accurately identified and appropriate corrective actions are executed in a timely manner
- Manage 5 Whys/RCA investigations into process upset events with support from Engineering
- Onshore focal point for technical support to offshore production operations team
- Provide Operational input to Production Planning
- Provide operational input for projects and major activities
- Support Divisional compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements
- Actively develop and maintain operations safe systems of work
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
- Implement and deliver cost reduction efficiencies and value creation strategies where relevant
- Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS), Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Operations Superintendent.

**About you**
- Relevant qualification in a technical trade or Process Plant Operations and/or experience in operations of hydrocarbon production within oil and gas industry
- Experience with computer-based maintenance management systems
- Experience in managing work activities and daily operations of complex oil and gas facilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of oil and gas processing within a multi-skilled environment
- Supervisory skills in operations and safety management
- Proficient with Microsoft office packages and other computer related systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
- Highly motivated and proactive in delivering outcomes
- Team player with a collaborative approach in working with respective teams across the business
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Resilient, flexible and adaptable in meeting changing circumstances and business demands
- Capability to regularly travel and to spend time in the field operations environment
