**About the company**

Our client, a not-for-profit organization are looking for an HR Officer to join their people and culture team. The position is initially a 12-month contract and has become available due to someone taking long service leave. The role could be extended and eventuate in a permanent role if you show the aptitude to take on higher level responsibilities.

The main purpose of this position is to support the wider organization with any generalist HR issues, from recruitment to engagement and retention.

They offer a flexible hybrid work model, currently in the office 2 days per week. The offices are based in Melbourne’s CBD.

**Your key responsibilities include**:

- Partner with the Manager, Human Resources and allocated departments of the college to develop, implement and drive the Human Resources plan in the context and to support delivery of the organisation’s strategic goals and business plan.
- Act as the initial point of contact for all HR queries from employees.
- Coordinate and deliver key Human Resources-related projects, to strategically administer the functions and activities of the HR Unit with the aim to increase employee engagement, improve employer branding and enhance culture.
- In collaboration with the Workplace Health and Safety Committee, maintain and promote work, health and safety policies and procedures and act as the HR representative on the Committee.
- Coordinate activities and processes relating to performance management; and develop and implement staff retention and engagement strategies including appropriate incentives and benefits.
- Review HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with awards and other workplace laws.
- Support with end-to-end recruitment.
- Assist in the coordination of administration activities relating to the Annual and Mid-Year Performance Appraisal process, in addition to probation reviews.
- Support HR and hiring manager with the onboarding of new employees.
- HR Administration, contracts and documentation including letters of offer, contract renewals, amendments to contracts, annual salary increase letters, end of probation letters, onboarding documentation and welcome packs.
- Other work as requested by the HR Manager.

**You will have the following**:

- Tertiary qualification/s in Human Resources and/or a business-related discipline.
- Extensive work experience in a Human Resources or administrative position.
- Strong administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; coupled with excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and negotiate complex situations
- Excellent understanding of industrial relations frameworks and legislation in Australia and New Zealand.
- Well-developed written communication skills including the ability to develop job advertisements, position descriptions, staff announcements, newsletter and intranet content, reports, and other communications.
