Great Southern Bank is seeking a new Manager of Payment Operations to join the team for a 6-month contract. In this role you will lead a team in delivering on all aspects of customer transaction disputes, manual payment requests, regulatory compliance and exception processing spanning all Great Southern Bank Payments. This position is located in our Brisbane CBD office with the flexibility to work from home two days per week.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Ensure the critical function of the bank continues to operate effectively in protecting customers from scam losses through appropriate due diligence activities performed by your team
- Support front-office teams with prompt and effective feedback regarding payment requests and activities, working collaboratively to refine processes and remove friction.
- Provide necessary challenge, improvement, and evolution to business practice to support ongoing execution excellence and quality.
- Effectively lead the team, creating a culture of high performance and quality, supporting and creating talent pathways, strong engagement outcomes, coaching and performance management
- Effectively manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines in a complex, heavily regulated environment, escalating and seeking support from your Senior Manger when necessary.
- As a self-starting, motivated leader, you will critically assess business data, practices and processes to making objective assessments and deliver improvements to support both customer and commercial outcomes.

**About you**:

- 5+ years experience within the Financial Services or related industry with exposure to resource planning, modelling and scheduling.
- 3-5 years leadership experience
- Previous experience effectively utilising resource planning methodologies or systems
- Knowledge and experience operationalising relevant finance industry standards, acts, codes and legislation, specifically the ePayments Code, Privacy Act and Banking Code of Practice.
- Confident, influential, approachable, and dependable leader with strong people management skills, in particular staff development, team leadership and the ability deliver outcomes through a team
