Applicants will be expected to have a strong clinical background, in addition to experience in research, teaching, quality assurance and administration/management in a public hospital.

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. The Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine provides a comprehensive range of general and specialist clinical anaesthesia services including trauma, paediatric surgery, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, vascular and obstetrics specialities. Anaesthesia services are also provided for the Cardiac Catheter Lab, Endoscopy Unit and Medical Imaging Department including Interventional Radiology, CT/MRI and PET scan. We also provide an Acute Pain Service and Perioperative Medicine service.

The Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine is a high-quality specialist teaching department with significant research activity. We participate in multi-centre research trials and encourage local research. We have strong links with University of Tasmania Faculty of Health Science and the Menzies Research centre.

**The Role**
- Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to patients and their families.
- Actively pursue performance improvements in Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine by involvement in clinical support roles.
- Actively pursue improved outcomes for patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to anaesthesia.

**Salary**
- Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award_

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 pro rata per annum.
- Relocation allowance.
- On call allowance % of Base Salary.
