**Identified position** - This position is an ‘Identified’ position which signifies that the role has a strong involvement in issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The successful applicant must have an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People.
**Who we are**
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is named after two of Australia’s most spectacular sites: the world-famous sandstone monolith of Uluru and the red domes of Kata Tjuta. Our dual World Heritage-listed park is in the heart of the Central Australian desert, about 450 km from Alice Springs. The land is owned by the Anangu people and leased to Parks Australia, who manage the national park in collaboration with the Traditional Owners. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park was handed back to its Traditional Owners in 1985, the park has been jointly managed by Anangu and the Australian Government. All management policies and programs aim to maintain Anangu culture and heritage; conserve and protect the integrity of the ecological systems in and around the park; provide for visitor enjoyment and learning opportunities in the park. The Uluru-Kata Tjuta landscape is and will always be a significant place of knowledge and learning.
The Joint Management Team supports Anangu, staff and stakeholders in working together to effectively manage the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The team builds strong relationships and understanding to support joint management and bridge the gap between the APS and community.

**The Job**
An exciting opportunity is available at Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in the Joint Management team for a self-motivated individual to oversee and manage the Board and its Working Groups, Joint Management governance processes and requirements. The board secretariat will provide high level support to the UKTNP Board of Management and Working Groups to enable them to make informed decisions.
**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
- An awareness and understanding of issues affecting Indigenous people in remote locations and the ability to contribute sensitively and effectively to the joint management of the park as well as developing and supporting relationships based on mutual trust, respect and consideration of values and culture.
- Experience in collaborating with stakeholders to achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
**Skills and capabilities**
- Coordinate the delivery of Board meetings, producing clear meeting agendas, papers and minutes in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage governance and administrative processes.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to build knowledge of, the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, its Joint Management arrangements and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Management Plan.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with Board Members and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high level oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to: effectively supervise and develop team members, encourage career development, build team capacity through coaching and provide performance feedback.
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team, including working with a variety of stakeholders and organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to live and work effectively in a small, remote community.
**Please note** that this recruitment process is advertised as both an ongoing and non-ongoing position. If an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 3 years in total. Should a non-ongoing position become ongoing, the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis.
