**Your new company**
This Federal Government Department coordinates strategy and policy leadership to protect Australia across a variety of focuses. Currently they are seeking an APS6 Policy & Business Support Officer to work within a team focused on coordinating strategic and tactical issues management advice to senior Executives.

**Your new role**
This team is responsible for implementing the Strategic Issues Management, and are seeking an individual who can contribute to the development, coordination and management of reviews, assessments, reports and other relevant products for high-profile cross-portfolio strategic issues, meetings and engagement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Identifying emerging, high-risk, sensitive and complex strategic issues.
- Providing secretariat support to high level committees
- Contributing to the development of business plans, forward work plans and risk treatment strategies.
- Initiating, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across internal and external networks.
- Drafting procedural and strategic documents for internal publication.
- Assisting with the development and tailoring of appropriate controls to mitigate risk to the team’s outcomes.

**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this position you will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver on the above responsibilities, as well as:

- Proven ability to deliver outcomes in tight deadlines while juggling multiple demands.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, and to work quickly and independently, with excellent attention to detail and coordination skills.
- High-level written and verbal communication, liaison and negotiation skills.
- Ability to create and nurture working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Provide specialist assistance and advice to key stakeholders to achieve outcomes within the Strategic Issues Management Framework.
