Your role at St John of God Social Outreach

We are currently seeking motivated Youth Workers to join our new Horizon House service in West Leederville, on a permanent part-time basis.

In this role, you will provide a high standard of care and quality service to the young people residing within St John of God Social Outreach (SJGSO) Horizon House. This involves creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment that supports the well-being and personal development of each young person through relationship-based care. In all aspects of their role, the Youth Worker places the interests and well-being of young people at the forefront, fostering a supportive, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes growth, and positive relationships

The Youth Worker shares responsibility with Management for ensuring that children/young people are safe in Horizon House programs, acts in children’s/young people’s best interests and actively works to empower children/young people.

The Position- Build strong, trusting relationships with young people, placing their interests and well-being at the forefront of all interactions.- Provide safe and stable long term accommodation to a young people who are at risk of being homelessness, creating an environment that promotes growth and development- Engage with young people using a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that care is sensitive to their developmental history and experiences of attachment, loss, and trauma- Offer outreach, strengths based and practical support to meet the continuum of care arrangements for young people with complex needs.- Assist young people in realising their aspirations and potential, through participating in education, training, and employment services.- Enhance young people's well-being and personal development by connecting them with community resources and supports.- Monitor and respond to the supportive and developmental needs of young people in a manner suited to their culture, gender, identity, diversity and developmental needs.- Assist in case management and planning for young people- Support young people in developing independent living skills- Support young people to maintain a positive group living environment in shared accommodation.- Support young people to develop skills that contribute to health lifestyle- Empower young people to achieve their individual goals and act as a positive role model

You will have a demonstrated knowledge of the needs of adolescents and trauma-informed care, together with 2 years recent relevant experience working with at-risk young people, experience in an area related to youth work and knowledge of the Privacy Legislation and Occupational, Health & Safety Act Regulations.

Successful applicants will hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar, State’s Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Card. You will demonstrate extensive experience in an area related to youth work and/or case management.

We can offer:
- Salary: $74,031 to $79,388 (pro-rata for part-time + 11.5% superannuation- Permanent part-time positions (x3) | x2 19 hours per week, x1 27 hours per week- Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as:
- Novated leasing- work related expenses- self-education and- additional superannuation- Employee discount on St John of God Hospital & Medical Services and Private Health Insurance
