The Youth Psychosocial Support Package (YPSP) and Youth Transitional Housing and Support Packages (YTHSP) are pilot programs that support young people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges with or without alcohol and other drug use, in an outreach capacity across the Perth metro region.
As the Youth Worker you will work with the young people in a strength based, person centred and trauma informed way and develop individualised support plans that support their mental health needs and assist them in their recovery journey. You will use your youth work experience to improve their mental health and wellbeing, while maintaining intentional boundaries, in line with the Youth Worker WA Code of Ethics.
We are currently expanding our pool of casual youth workers. The role will require working across the Perth metro area including Ellenbrook, Rockingham & Mandurah. We are looking for candidates with 4+ hours availability on available workdays and availability on the weekends.
About you
You will bring your passionate and resilient nature and a drive to deliver quality supports to young people.
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
- Diploma level qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or other related field
- Experience in delivering youth work or another support role in a community services setting and in particular on outreach,
- Skills in working with young people who have mental health and/or alcohol and other drug issues,
- Ability to provide practical and emotional support in relation to mentoring and informal counselling, development of independent living skills, opportunities to improve social and community participation, learning, volunteering and employment
- Experience working with young people in a person-centred, trauma informed, strengths based, child safe, youth-friendly, inclusive and evidence-based manner
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills
The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Drivers Licence. You must also have access to a reliable and safe vehicle as you will be expected to drive to see clients across Perth metro (mileage reimbursement will apply).
