This allows our inmates/transferees to feel heard, appreciated and treated with the utmost respect and in a culturally appropriate way. Our aim is to improve relationships and reduce stressors for inmates/transferees, so they feel cared for.
We are seeking Security Officers to join our team at the Nauru Regional Processing Centre. Working a six (6) weeks on and three (3) weeks off roster, six (6) month fixed term contracts will be available.
**About the Role**
In your role as Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Nauru Regional Processing Facility.
**General Duties include but are not limited to**:
- building and maintaining a productive working relationship with team members, transferees and stakeholders
- working together with all facility teams to ensure the safety and security of transferees, stakeholders, employees and visitors to the facility.
- maintain communication over two-way radio with supervisors and other members of the security team
- working together with all departments to control and manage all visitors and vehicles arriving and departing from the facility
- secure premises and personnel by patrolling the facility, monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings and equipment
- prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, while enforcing policy and procedures
- Raising alarms and / or calling for support as necessary
- attending regular training and refresher sessions to maintain skills and qualifications including but not limited to cultural awareness, mental health, CPR and first aid.
**To be successful in this role you will**:
- Current Certificate II in Security or equivalent (e.g., Certificate III in Correctional Practice)
- experience working cross culturally with complex clients
- previous experience working in immigration security or similar (desirable)
- be willing and able to undertake induction training, working and living in a hot tropical environment on Nauru
- have experience working remotely (desired)
- be socially responsible with the highest standards of personal honesty and integrity
- be flexible and adaptable approach to varied working situations
- ability to work successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- proven right to work in Australia
- willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Check
- current Working with Children Card
- current First Aid Certificate
- evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 (double vaccinated) plus one booster with a vaccine recognised in Australia
