Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Gibbs Lab in the Personalised Oncology Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

Through a collaboration between the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) and ANZUP Cancer Trials Group, a full-time Clinical Research Fellow (CRF) position has been created for a medical oncologist (or medical oncology advanced trainee in final year of training) to be based at WEHI, with will focus on supporting both WEHI driven data/translational research and ANZUP clinical trials research.

The CRF will be supervised by Senior Clinical Research Fellow, A/Prof. Ben Tran and support both registry-based projects and translational research within the uro-oncology tumour stream. The appointee will also provide support and expertise to ANZUP clinical trials running through coordinating centres. Additionally, they will assist in increasing ANZUP engagement and support across other ANZUP research activities.

The primary responsibilities of the WEHI ANZUP CRF will be to coordinate and facilitate various clinical research projects across genito-urinary cancer administered through The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) and ANZUP Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP). The role will be supervised by A/Prof Ben Tran, on a day to day basis, and Prof Ian Davis, ANZUP Chair.

Key Selection Criteria

Knowledge and skills- Formal medical qualifications for acceptance of an appointment as a Medical Oncology Research Fellow- Demonstrated knowledge of cancer treatment and research, and ability to work effectively with oncologists and other health professionals, patients and consumers- Experience working with collaborative research teams as well as the ability to work autonomously with mínimal direction- Track record of interest and involvement in research and production of abstracts and publications.- Practical statistical analysis skills to an independent level is desirable

Terms of Appointment
This position is for 12 months in a full time capacity with 0.5 FTE dedicated to ANZUP activity and 0.5 FTE dedicated to WEHI activity and clinic attendance.

Salary will be $150,928 (market rate) paid pro rata. Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
