**2025 Colorectal Surgery Fellow - Research**

This is a Fixed Term (two years), Part Time position at 14 hours per fortnight commencing February 2025.

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community-based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

**Unit Description**:
The Colorectal Unit is part of** **The Department of General Surgical Specialties, at The Royal Melbourne Hospital which consists of all general surgical specialty services in a tertiary referral setting providing general, specialty and complex Surgical Services.

**About the role**:
The purpose of this role is:

- Undertake full-time clinical research in Colorectal Surgery enrolled as Doctor of Medical Science student at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of A/Prof Ian Hayes and Mr Dilshan Udayasiri.
- Work as a member of Colorectal Surgery Unit within the Department of General Surgical Specialties and participate in 2 outpatient clinical sessions per week.
- Participate as a fellow in the emergency on-call roster of the Department of General Surgery covering Acute General Surgical and Trauma, usually one night per week.

**About You**:

- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (for international Medical Graduates)
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- F.R.A.C.S
- Ability to work in a team
- Well-developed communication and presentation skills.
