Operations Manager

Due to the organisation's rapid and exciting growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and drive a leading company in the frozen food industry in Australia.

The role will take a 'hands-on' active responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company’s sites. Our company has a centralised headquarters which is located in the northern suburb - Brookvale, and a main warehouse off-site which is located in Bankstown, NSW.

As a key leader within the organisation reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead the operations of the business, that involve, but are not limited: managing its fleet and inspection schedule, liaising with the warehouse management team, managing a small team and improving the business’s SOPs (standard operating procedures) where possible. Due to the nature of our operations, this role involves being present at both sites on a weekly basis, depending on the workload foreseen during the week.

We are a leading company in the food service industry in Australia, with 20 years of presence. Our business is well known for the high-quality and premium range of our products. We were the first company to introduce one of the most popular superfood products in the country. We distribute mostly to our B2B network, and we have a good relationship and distribution partnership with key distributors in Australia. Although we have a presence nationally, our operations are 85% concentrated in NSW. We have a small range of products, however, our volume is considerably high and requires good fast-paced and efficient management skills.

**The Roles Main Tasks Are**:

- This is a ‘hands-on’ role, where it requires you to be physically present at all times.
- Your main goals are to keep and track the logistics workflow of the business, maintain stock-accuracy levels, and run the business operations with process efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure all operations (e.g. shipping and delivery) meet quality and safety standards.
- Manage the business’s fleet (cars and vans), ensuring the maintenance schedule is being followed accordingly. This involves taking the vehicles to the service centre as per schedule, conducting daily and routine inspections of the vehicles when they go to/come from the delivery runs, overseeing the maintenance calendar and coordinating delivery rosters within the drivers and nominating driver’s fines.
- Manage delivery runs, maintain good relationships with drivers, delivery contractors and other stakeholders, ensuring optimal performance and coordination.
- Addressing staffing absence issues in the warehouse, as well as in the delivery drivers team, and ensuring back-ups procedures are in place within our recruitment agencies partners.
- Manage and organise employee’s rosters and feed the online system with time control, holidays, personal leave, unpaid etc.
- Attend special requests raised by our freight forwarding partner, which includes attending to randomised customs inspections at the warehouse.
- Manage and hire powerpoint containers to keep our products refrigerated off-site when necessary.
- Coordinating and maintaining a schedule for the deliveries through the courier services channel, ensuring the Customer Service department is always updated regarding deliveries being received or shipped from/to our sites.
- Ensure the warehouse procedures are being conducted efficiently, which involves conducting routine stock count cycles, finding and mitigating bottlenecks that are causing stock discrepancies and implementing new process to ensure the team is on top of the stock levels.
- Utilise negotiation skills to optimise and maximise cost-effectiveness for warehouse premises, pallet space and courier companies.
- Analyse, manage and report operational performances and provide recommendations in resolving issues identified.
