The Legal and Audit Division is a specialist in-house practice that supports lawful implementation of the Department’s objectives by advising on the management of legal risk as well as providing legal advice, litigation and dispute resolution services, legal training and legislation services.

**Duties**
- Undertake day-to-day operational functions including invoice and account processing, monitoring and review to ensure the Legal and Audit division’s financial and governance responsibilities and obligations are achieved.
- Manage the procurement activities of the Legal and Audit Division, including undertake requests for quote, review quotations, evaluate and recommend providers, develop work orders and contract documentations.
- Undertake day to day contract management of all contracts entered into by the Legal and Audit Division, including appropriate and timely contract variations, tracking contract expenditures
- Utilise financial systems and analytical tools to research, analyse and reconcile data.
- Prepare regular reporting on financial expenditure, undertake reconciliations, quality assurance reviews and provide supporting work papers when required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Legal and Audit Division policies, processes and systems to enhance the delivery of financial and business support services in the division.
- Work collaboratively with central procurement team and keep up to date on DVA procurement policy and processes, to inform Legal and Audit Division processes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of up-to-date standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation for financial management activities in the Legal and Audit Division.
- Maintain all applicable filing and archiving in accordance with the DVA record keeping policy and LAD guidelines.
- Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner.
- Maintain awareness of Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks.
- Manage prioritisation of own workloads checking accuracy of information and work, ensuring quality processing and receipting.
- Respond to and coordinate responses to various requests from central financial teams.
- Demonstrate good judgement in decision making by exploring the nature of the problem, researching information, considering options, documenting evidence and providing recommendations.
- Manage the Divisional inboxes.
- Contribute to section and divisional goals and objectives, business planning, evaluation and reporting on organisational goals in a collaborative and constructive manner.
- Participate as a constructive team member to deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standards.
- Other administrative and ad hoc duties as required to support the Practice Management function.

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

**Notes**

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 23 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
