**The Opportunity**
The Cyber Security Specialist will join the Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) team, based in the Brisbane Head Office, and will report to the APAC-UK ICT Services Leader and a Cybersecurity Leader. As part of a global cyber security team, you will be interfacing with Abt’s United States IT team to achieve a secure global platform, where you will be responsible for coordinating cyber security across all hybrid on-premises and cloud-based platforms and processes for Abt’s programs operating in the Asia-Pacific and UK regions.
**Core Responsibilities**
- Promote, and ensure the security implementation and architecture of existing and upcoming systems through proper planning, design, installation, maintenance, management and coordination of security standards and frameworks
- Contribute to the implementation of baseline configurations and monitor for compliance across the enterprise
- Manage and monitor vulnerability scanning services to ensure compliance with patching processes
- Providing and coordinate security advice, security awareness and compliance training plus other related cyber security education to improve the resilience of our people
- Contribute to security governance activities including Abt’s internal CyberMetrics maturity program reporting and the ICT security roadmap, as well as monitoring regulatory compliance requirements and changes
- Maintaining strong levels of stakeholder engagement across the Australia, Britain and United States businesses including Executive and Senior leadership teams
- Managing risk management activities including risk and incident analysis and remediation, as well as disaster recovery and business continuity processes and testing
- Contribute to critical incident response and recovery including continual improvement of relevant playbooks, policies, and procedures, as well as effective system security hygiene and vulnerability scanning and testing
**What We Value**
- Bachelor's Degree in IT, Security, or a similar discipline
- Minimum 4 years work experience in the IT sector preferably in system admin or network admin roles, and at least a further 1 year focused on security
- Thorough understanding of networking, system administration, architectures and security elements to include firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtualization technologies, encryption, and servers
- Able to provide prioritization and remediation efforts in a timely and repeatable manner for identified risks
- Ability to identify, understand, articulate, and manage risks across technical disciplines and business units.
- Define, create, and document security controls and processes as well as operating as a change control manager
- Experience with SIEM technologies, firewalls, virtualized client/server architecture, Microsoft 365, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, and be a keen problem solver
- Strong ability to document a system at various levels of detail ranging from specific implementation of controls for security plans to high-level Visio diagrams and descriptions for Concept of Operations
- Excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritise and multi-task while proactively managing stakeholder expectations
- Ability to work efficiently and independently with mínimal supervision to meet important deadlines
- Relevant industry certifications would be highly regarded such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), SANS, or other Information Security related certifications
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and strategies including Essential 8, UK’s Cyber Essentials, and the NIST CSF.
