**About us**

Essendon FC - “The Bombers” - are a professional sporting team in the Australian Football League. We are home to 5 sporting teams, we run our AFL men’s and women’s programs, VFL men’s and women’s programs, and a wheelchair football team. But we’re more than the game. **About the role**

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide assistance as required in financial matters across the business, partnering with our stakeholders to ensure all internal/external requirements are adhered to.

The key responsibilities will include:

- Preparation of month end and year end closes
- Preparation of budget & forecasts with key stakeholders of the club
- Identifying and executing process improvement opportunities
- Preparation & distribution of timely financial information to relevant stakeholders, including commentary and variance analysis
- Preparation of ad-hoc reporting models to support various departmental cost tracking
- Preparation of Balance Sheet and P&L reconciliations
- Establishing relationships outside of finance to deliver analysis and support

**About you**

The successful applicant will be a passionate self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset. A creative thinker who enjoys streamlining processes, building analytical reports and most importantly will be a keen problem solver who enjoys a challenge. With a minimum of 5 years’ experience in either a Business Partner or Management Accountant role you will have:

- Strong financial accounting background with a clear understanding of accounting and budgeting principles
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to connect and influence
- Advanced systems and Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand the big picture.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information
- CA/CPA/CIMA qualified or equivalent

Other skills, experience and attributes which are highly desirable, but not essential include:

- Previous experience in new system implementation/system integrations or change management
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Finance & Operations
- Workday Adaptive
- Salesforce
