**Position Information**:
Cumberland High School is a comprehensive high school, with a population of 857 students, located in Carlingford. The school has a diverse cultural population including 71.2% non-English speaking background and 62 different language backgrounds. Our school is driven by the core values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence. These values permeate the teaching and learning environment and provide the culture that enables students to thrive and reach their potential. Cumberland High School promotes excellence in learning and the provision of collaborative leadership that supports rich curriculum offerings with a strong emphasis on student leadership, academic, cultural, music and sporting excellence. Cumberland High School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) high school that provides strong whole-school wellbeing initiatives for all students including students from a non-English speaking background, high potential learners, students with additional learning needs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Cumberland High School is currently undergoing a significant rebuild to increase the school capacity to 1500 students.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated capacity to be an open and collaborative leader in the face of change and continuous improvement to meet the diverse needs of the students.
2. Proven ability to be a visible and visionary leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to further building the school culture and enhancing partnerships with parents and the wider educational community.

3. Demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire and support the wellbeing of a diverse and dynamic staff; including experienced, early career and expert teachers, underpinned by high expectations and targeted professional learning.

4. Demonstrated instructional leadership in the implementation of evidence-informed pedagogical practices focused on the achievement of the priorities in the current Strategic Improvement Plan and beyond.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
