**Position Information**:
Girraween Public School promotes a culture of high expectations and achievement for all students through effective, explicit, evidence-based teaching. The school provides future-focused learning in a diverse and growing population, creating an optimal learning environment where every student is known, valued and cared for.

Girraween Public School sustains strong community confidence and works in partnership with parents to create a shared vision of high aspiration and excellence. Through culturally inclusive practices the school ensures every student is engaged and challenged to continue to learn, to thrive and succeed, and to achieve their educational potential to become responsible citizens.

Currently, there are 53 classes (50 mainstream and 3 support classes - IO, IM and Multicategorical) with 1,226 students enrolled. 97% of students come from language backgrounds other than English, with over 43 different language backgrounds represented in the student population. Tamil, Gujarati, Telugu and Hindi are the dominant language groups. 62% of students were born in Australia. The school has a funding allocation of 6.0 for English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D); 0.8 for Learning and Support; 5.2 Community Language.

The leadership team includes the Principal, three Deputy Principals and eleven Assistant Principals, some of which are school funded positions.

Community participation in school governance is through an active Parents' and Citizens' Association. The Girraween Public School community has high aspirations for student achievement and strongly supports the high educational standards promoted by the school. The school offers a wide range of extracurricular learning experiences and programs. The school will be expected to strengthen initiatives, programs and transition to connected feeder schools in the community.

- An experienced leader who can drive innovative professional learning, teaching and educational reform through data informed practice to ensure a culture of high expectations.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
