HR Advisor

The role
Reporting to the Principal Advisor, HR Operations, you will play a key role in delivering advisory and operational HR services supporting managers and employees of the Department of Health on all aspects of effective people management work practices that emphasise the achievement of customer objectives.

Key accountabilities
- Understanding of, and commitment to, contemporary human resource management principles, including employment equity, human rights, workplace health and safety, and ethical behaviours.
- Assist in the compilation of data for the quarterly Conduct and Performance (CaPE) reporting to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
- Undertake research and analysis to provide advice, policy and strategic documents relating to relevant areas within the Department of Health.
- Prepare ad-hoc and monthly case management reporting that provides senior management insight, trends and recommendations supported by the data.
- Provide expert advice and recommendation on appropriate management and resolution of employment matters including employee complaints, attendance management, performance and conduct.
- Establish effective working relationships with clients through the provision of timely, high-quality authoritative advice and support.
- Assist Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators with the provision of effective injury management, advisory and case management services ensuring services provided are aligned to industry best practice.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in order to prepare and present high level advice documents, formal submissions and reports.
- Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values.
- Other duties as determined by the Principal Advisor.

- Highly developed research and analytical skills (skills in data analysis would be highly regarded)
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete work within timeframes, manage competing priorities and ensuring attention to detail.
- Demonstrated empathy, resilience and high emotional intelligence.
