The SIL Team Leader provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight of support staff working within Paulo’s 24/7 SIL arrangement. The role ensures that high-quality, person-centred care is delivered in line with NDIS Practice Standards, the participant’s behaviour support plan, and their individual care goals. This includes providing shift support, managing incidents, liaising with allied health professionals, and fostering a safe and supportive environment.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Staff Supervision & Support**
- Oversee and guide daily activities of DSWs during allocated hours
- Conduct weekly check-ins and debriefs with staff
- Provide coaching and corrective feedback as required
- Ensure staff are following shift routines, incident protocols, and participant care plans
**Documentation & Compliance**
- Review and sign off on incident reports and daily progress notes
- Escalate behavioural incidents, safety concerns, or medical issues immediately to management
- Maintain accurate shift handover records
- Monitor implementation of behaviour support plan and SIL service delivery goals
**Participant-Centered Support**
- Build a supportive and respectful relationship with Paulo while managing boundaries
- Monitor risk factors and report patterns to the Behaviour Support Practitioner, GP, or Coordinator
- Support with complex behaviours, liaise with emergency services if required
- Ensure Paulo’s rights, dignity, and choice are respected at all times
**Communication & Stakeholder Liaison**
- Act as the key point of contact for support workers on shift
- Liaise with allied health professionals (GP, OT, behaviour support, etc.)
- Maintain open communication with family while respecting privacy and consent protocols
- Provide written and verbal updates to the Director and Coordinator
**Hours of Work**:
- 10-15 hours per week (may include overlap with morning/evening shifts)
- Flexibility required for urgent escalations or critical incidents
**Required Qualifications & Experience**:
- Minimum Cert IV Disability or equivalent
- At least 3+ years working in SIL or with complex NDIS participants
- Experience with challenging behaviours and trauma-informed care - At least 3+ years
- Current First Aid, CPR, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and Driver’s Licence
**Desirable**:
- Mental Health training or experience with clients with psychosocial disability
- Leadership or team coordination experience
- Knowledge of NDIS compliance, restrictive practice reporting, and incident management
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $47.50 - $55.45 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
