**Who we are**
The Plant Export Operations Branch (PEOB) facilitates trade and market access through the development of technical operational phytosanitary export inspection and certification policies. The branch does this by developing and implementing policies and guidance materials that ensure Australian horticulture, grain and other plant-based exports meet Australia's export legislation, international obligations and importing country conditions. The branch has a key role in advancing Australia's market access priorities by actively engaging in overseas market access negotiations. The branch works with all participants in the export pathway to continuously improve the export framework and ensure expert advice and support is available to the horticulture and grain export industries. In addition, the branch administers the development and training of authorised officers to conduct inspections.

**The Jobs**
As a Regional Assurance Manager you will be responsible for:

- establishing and maintaining effective and productive relationships with their clients and within their colleagues
- providing support to, and liaison with, their clients
- developing strategies with their clients to ensure understanding of, and adherence, to plant export policies
- providing a feedback mechanism for both their clients and their colleagues to ensure the best plant export regulatory outcomes
- contributing to the continuous improvement of both the Authorised Officer Program and plant export policies more broadly
- representing the Plant Export Operations Branch and the department at a range of internal and external fora.

**Please note** that this recruitment process will be used to fill ongoing vacancies in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
The successful applicants will have knowledge and/or experience in:

- the operations within the plant exports environment
- working remotely from their team and/or supervisor
- communicating with and developing productive working relationships with external stakeholders
- communicating with and developing productive working relationships with colleagues
- analysing policies and suggesting improvements.

**Eligibility and other requirements**
The successful applicants must:

- hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence
- note that the physical requirements of the role(s) involve a combination of outdoor and office-based work
- wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures
- note that the position will involve extensive intrastate travel
- note that the position may require them to participate in an on-call roster (for which an appropriate restriction allowance will be paid) and be available to perform duty outside standard hours.
