**The Opportunity**

We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams. **Responsibilities**
- Work with the Safety Management System (SMS) Risk & Assurance Lead and SMS Risk & Reporting Specialist to design, develop and monitor the collection of effective Product & Services Safety (P&SS) performance, trending and key risk metrics across the company for input into executive safety review meetings and risk register;
- Support programs in their collection, analysis and reporting of P&SS data for standardisation across BDA;
- Actively engage with the other BDA functions including Quality, Supply Chain, Commercial and Programs on safety assurance activities
- Develop and execute the BDA SMS assurance program to support BDA
- Governance of assurance metrics and findings with appropriate dissemination of information and development of program PSMCs for assurance program execution and quality;
- Conduct internal 1st Line assurance for SMS effectiveness at Corporate level and safety performance (including monitoring critical control effectiveness for non-program BDA P&SS risks);
- Conduct 2nd line assurance (Internal Lead Auditor) activities for the evaluation of the SMS and its effectiveness in close coordination with the Quality Function. Provide technical leadership and mentoring for BDA safety audit/assurance participants and PSMCs, including safety auditing of sub-contractors and suppliers;
- Provide the Accountable Executive with suitable and periodic risk metrics and trending information to support risk-based decision making;
- Support and report to functional Safety Action Groups (SAG);
- Maintain safety records;
- Monitor changes to Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) to ensure BDA SMS compliance;
- Support Quality Manual development and review to ensure close alignment with SMS, particularly with respect to SMS support for AS9100 and AS9110 compliance;
- Support BDA safety investigations where required (focus on investigation of adverse safety data trends over reactive event investigation);
- Support SMS Risk & Assurance Lead on facilitation of BowTie workshops in support of the BDA Safety Risk Management (SRM) strategy;
- Coordination of BGS Safety Review Board (SRB) inputs and updates when required to deputise;
- Support the development metrics to measure SMS promotional activity effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.

**Experience/Qualifications**
- Knowledge of Safety Management System, ICAO Annex 19 and Defence Aviation Safety Regulations;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Understanding of the role of Human Factors in safety management;
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Safety Management or Risk Management training and/or qualification;
- Safety Investigator training and/or qualifications would be an advantage;
