The Grounds Service Officer will perform a range of routine and specialised duties associated with development, maintenance and care of school property within an overall programmed approach. The role holder works with the Principal, Business Manager, and Senior Grounds Service Officer in contributing to the development of overall works programme.
**Typical duties performed include, but not limited to**:
- support the Principal and Business Manager in the priority implementation of the College facilities maintenance programs;
- manage the College maintenance request system including the co-ordination and allocation of internal and external resources so that maintenance issues are completed in a timely manner;
- co-ordinate, facilitate and oversee the successful allocation of jobs and ensure database is up to date (liaise with the Senior Grounds Service Officer and the Business Manager on progress of jobs allocated);
- manage and maintain all College buildings including practical attention or sourcing and engaging contractors to undertake repairs or perform regular maintenance;
- maintain all College equipment and machinery including providing advice on appropriate acquisition and management processes;
- maintain all College furniture and resources including ensuring items are allocated as required or requested;
- assist with asset stocktake processes;
- communicate and discuss with Business Manager and WHS Senior Officer on matters regarding periodic maintenance of facilities;
- participate in the annual Work Health and Safety audit;
- maintain appropriate maintenance records for all machinery, plant and equipment;
- oversee a range of day to day activities that may include classroom and hall set ups for activities/assembly; including moving/arranging furniture and seating; removing and relocating furniture from room to room; delivering parcels and orders to various areas of the College, general store duties including checking, storing and distributing school supplies and stocks;
- oversee and assist with a range of duties that include clearing and hosing of drains and gutters;
- collection of waste, food and paper on school grounds as agreed by the Principal and Business Manager;
- assist with requirements for significant events including major sporting events and ceremonies including events off site;
- undertake assigned responsibilities for school security checks and school lock up procedures;
- support with a variety of security duties at the school may involve using and maintaining the school security systems (this may include availability for after-hours call out with security breaches, liaising with security and the Business Manager); and
- participate in professional development and workplace health and safety training sessions including the BCE Grounds Workshop and Work Health and Safety training.
To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
