A unique opportunity to provide support to survivors of trafficking and slavery at The Salvation Army Trafficking and Slavery Safe House has become available.
The Safe House provides residential and outreach case management to men, women, young people and families living in the community who have experienced trafficking & modern slavery, including forced marriage.
The Safe House works within a person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed care framework to ensure the best outcome for all who seek our assistance.
THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Case Manager to work with survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in an accommodation service setting. This is a casual position approximately 3 days per week (22.8 hours per week). Key responsibilities include:
Offer appropriate and high-quality support to individuals identified to have experienced human trafficking, slavery and/or slavery-like practices, through a client-centred and trauma informed case management framework
Develop goals with clients and regularly review case plans
Effectively manage case load (approx. 7 clients) as allocated by the Program Manager
Complete assessment, intake and case planning, providing referrals to relevant services to ensure holistic support
Operate as part of an integrated network and work in a collaborative way with other Salvation Army programs and external partners and service providers
Attend relevant network and inter-agency meetings, represent the organisation in specific working groups and shared projects
Promote and support clients’ self-advocacy and contribute to policy advocacy, research, community education and outreach
Reporting to the Program Manager, this position is located at a confidential address in metropolitan Sydney.

HOURS AND SALARY
This is a casual position approximately 3 days per week (22.8 hours per week).
Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Crisis Accommodation Employee Level 2.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE
Tertiary qualifications (min. Diploma) in Community Services, Social Work or related disciplines
Experience in Trauma Informed Care and Strengths Based Practice
Experience working with people who have experienced human trafficking, forced labour, slavery; and/or migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, survivors of domestic violence
Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Solid level of experience in case management role
Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the community services sector
Ability to work on a rotating on-call roster (one week per month), shared between the team
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including advocacy and negotiation skills
Demonstrated commitment to best practice, professional development and continuous improvement
A positive attitude, flexible approach and a team player
A current and valid NSW Drivers Licence
Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
