**The opportunity**

If you have experience in civil maintenance, are seeking something new, and have always wanted to work with the council, we have the perfect opportunity for you Join our Operations team as a Civil Maintenance Officer, work outdoors and be part of a team that makes a positive and tangible impact in the local community.

Help maintain the Council's vital infrastructure to ensure a seamlessly functioning road network, efficient drainage system, pristine streets, and a secure environment for all road users.

**You will make a difference by**
- Execution of a variety of maintenance and construction tasks within road reserves, including drainage, road maintenance, concreting, signage installation, asphalting, and street sweeping.
- Safe and efficient operation of a range of plant machinery such as skid steers, excavators, tip trucks, and street sweeper trucks.
- Performance of manual tasks like lifting, carrying, raking, and digging.
- Regular inspections, checks, and maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Evaluation of work sites for hazards and implementation of appropriate risk controls.
- Adherence to occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.

**What you will bring**
- Construction Induction Card
- Competence in operating heavy mechanical plant and driving vehicles over 8 tonnes (Current Victorian Driver Licence with **at least a Medium rigid category).**:

- Proficiency in maintenance techniques and practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
- Ability to use electronic devices, such as handheld tablets, to send and receive messages and correspondence, join meetings online and follow work schedules.
- Alignment with Cardinia's values of teamwork, respect, accountability, communication, and customer focus.

Please note, you will also need to
- Commit to obtaining -within 3 months of being eligible
- an upgrade to a Heavy Rigid Victorian Driver Licence category.
- Commit to obtaining - within 3 months of being eligible - an upgrade to a Heavy combination Victorian Driver Licence category.

Cardinia will allow paid work time to achieve this but will not reimburse any costs.
