An opportunity is available now to join the Birth Unit team in the role of Midwifery Unit Manager Level 1. This is a Temporary position, working 2 days per week for 12 months to cover Maternity leave. This position is on a rotational roster across the 7 days and covers AM and PM shifts.

Your role as the Clinical Nursing/Midwifery Unit Manager (N/MUM1) ensures that the physical, human and financial resources at the local level are managed effectively to meet the needs of patients and service demand. The N/MUM1 acts as an advocate for patients/clients and staff and promotes consumer involvement in care delivery.

This role and the responsibilities of the N/MUM1 includes a duty of care to staff to ensure that there is a safe working environment and that staff are developed appropriately to meet the service demands and to realise their potential. Given the role and responsibilities of the position it is important that the N/MUM1 is physically present on the unit the majority of the time supervising clinical care and attending to all matters relating to the efficient functions of the Unit/Clinics.

**What you'll be doing**

**What you will bring to the role**:

- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency. (Registered Nurse - Division 1)
- Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Nursing Unit Manager - Level 1 or acting Clinical Nursing Unit Manager - Level 1 or Team Leader experience
- Demonstrated relevant clinical nursing experience
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, manage and develop nursing/midwifery staff
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills including problem solving, balancing competing demands and conflict resolution
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa._
