**Position Information**:
Built on the land of the Wanaruah people, Jerrys Plains Public School opened in January 1881. The heritage listed buildings date back to 1879.
Jerrys Plains Public School has a dynamic and caring educational environment, providing students with access to quality programs within a varied and balanced curriculum. The staff see our students as individuals, and the curriculum is planned accordingly to cater for each child's specific needs. The school has 23 students, with 3 of those identifying as Aboriginal.
The school is well resourced with excellent facilities for its students, including stimulating classrooms, a library, covered playground equipment and large playground areas. Nine percent of our students recognise and celebrate their Aboriginal heritage and the school is a proud member of the Kunarr Ngarrama AECG.
The local school community highly values the positive partnerships that exist with the school and willingly cooperates in order to assist in a variety of authentic learning experiences for their children. Parents, staff, students and community members share a strong sense of ownership and commitment to the ongoing development of Jerrys Plains Public School.
All staff are committed to continuous, sustainable school improvement, with a focus on professional development and individualised learning for all students, within a framework of high expectations. Jerrys Plains Public School is an active member of the Singleton Learning Community, where collegial practices among the nine schools ensure all students in our public education system benefit from improved outcomes, through strategic and targeted planning.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
- Demonstrated capacity to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice in a multi-stage setting, administrative and leadership roles of a teaching principal, with a proven ability to successfully work with all stakeholders to drive school improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in, the capacity to consult with local Aboriginal communities so as to provide the essential leadership necessary in achieving high quality outcomes for students, families and community.
- A highly visible leader with excellent communication and advocacy skills and a demonstrated ability to genuinely engage with and understand the associated barriers of a rural setting in improving learning outcomes across all KLAs with a focus on literacy and numeracy.
- Outstanding ability to lead differentiated professional learning to ensure quality teaching, learning and leading, ensuring a strong foundation to achieve student success through exemplary Instructional Leadership skills in the areas of literacy and numeracy with a focus on quality, evidence-based teaching.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
