**Position Information**:
Paxton Public School is located on large grounds in a semi-rural setting, approximately 10km from Cessnock in the Hunter Valley. The current enrolment is 80 students (22% Aboriginal and 3% EAL/D) and has a FOEI of 119.

The school has a focus on continual school improvement through personalised learning for students and staff in literacy and numeracy, supportive practices to engage learners by strengthening connections, and working collaboratively with the school and wider community. The school has established a strong relationship with the Korreil Wonnai AECG and is a proud member of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools (CCGPS).

Paxton Public School has identified the need to improve student engagement and wellbeing through refining whole school approaches to student wellbeing and behaviour management. School initiatives have been developed by listening to student, staff, and community voice. There is a strong focus on student growth and attainment to improve the academic outcomes for all students.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
- Demonstrated experience in educational leadership with the capacity to drive Paxton Public School’s strategic priorities and directions.
- Proven high level quality teaching with the ability to lead and collaborate with staff to meet the differentiated learning needs of all students.
- Capacity to build upon and strengthen authentic school and community partnerships.

**General Selection Criteria**:
Applicants for principal positions need to show evidence of successful educational leadership. This must be demonstrated through:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs.

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
