Overview

Dungowan Public School (TP2) is located in a rural setting near Tamworth, NSW. The school is projected to have an enrolment of 29 students in 2026, including 4 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Having celebrated its sesquicentenary in 2024, the school offers a high-quality education within an ideal rural environment. The Dungowan school community believes every student should be challenged to learn and continuously improve within a respectful, inclusive environment that upholds high expectations. As a small, vibrant rural school, its vision is to be partners in learning, collaboratively empowering all students to become confident, resilient, self‑directed and successful learners.

Dungowan Public School is dedicated to fostering a culture of shared learning with other small schools in the Tamworth Small Schools cluster. Students regularly participate in sport, arts, and cross‑curricular activities, providing additional academic and social opportunities. The school is deeply engaged in biodiversity education, which it prioritises as a key focus.

In recent years, students have achieved performance levels at the state standard in NAPLAN and Check‑in assessments. The school plans to continue enhancing assessment practices and further developing Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) for all students to promote learning, wellbeing and the growth of self‑directed learners. The external validation process was completed in 2025, paving the way for the development of the new School Excellence Plan cycle for 2026–2029.
