PERSOLKELLY are working with a Local Government Organisation located in the inner eastern suburbs. Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator to join their team.

Duration: 3 month assignment (with possible extension)

**The Role**
- Manage day-to-day activities and key areas of responsibility of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) work team in an efficient and effective manner
- Assist in ensuring the effective implementation of the organisation's health and safety management system
- Develop, implement and review relevant strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure they remain contemporary, sustainable and meet organisational and legislative requirements.
- Provide mentorship and safety leadership through positive engagement with internal management teams.
- Assist and undertake specific research and prepare reports prioritising matters of concern, presenting reports and discussion papers as required.
- Coordinate the day to day OSH functions to ensure staff and managers are able to meet their personal and operational objectives and requirements.
- Liaise with the Coordinator Business Continuity and Risk on the management, administration and review of the Risk Management Safety System.
- Coordinate, monitor and review the regular and ad hoc workplace safety audits including site, equipment and events (internal and external) to ensure compliance with the appropriate legislation, Standard or Code of Practice.
- Establish and maintain ongoing relationships and networks with relevant internal and external stakeholders including senior staff, OSH professionals, consultants and contractors, other local governments and relevant government departments.

**Experience Required**
- Minimum 2 years working in Occupational Health and Safety
- Possession of or significant progress towards a relevant qualification in Occupational Safety and Health or related area.
- Moderate computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint,) including a specialised OSH operating system.
- Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with proven ability to effectively prioritise multiple projects to meet strict deadlines and organisational objectives whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Display the ability to work effectively under pressure both as a team member and autonomously.
- Obtain a National Police Check Certificate that is less than 12 months old
- Hold a current, valid Driver's Licence.
- Possession of or ability to acquire, a current Senior First Aid Certificate.
