**Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a Operations Coordinator - Design and Manufacture to join Office of the Provost, Academic Division.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring seamless day-to-day operations and efficient project management. Collaborating closely with a skilled technical team, this role delivers high-quality client services, supporting academic and industry research endeavours. A mechanical engineering background, high-level problem-solving skills, and expertise in design concepts and advanced manufacturing techniques are essential for success. Staying attuned to current and emerging client needs is a dynamic challenge. This role must continuously identify opportunities for improvement, enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency. Additionally, liaising with diverse internal and external stakeholders, from academic staff to partnering organisations, requires adept communication and relationship-building skills.

The Design and Fabrication Research Facility (DeFab) is one of the core research facilities at QUT under Research Infrastructure (RI). It is a team of engineers and trade-qualified technicians providing design and fabrication solutions and services to researchers, industry and government clients. DeFab's capabilities include engineering designs, prototype development, precision manufacturing (CNCs), profile cutting, metal sheet folding and welding, instrumentation, 3D printing, injection moulding and material compounding. The team makes anything from micron to meter scale and works with researchers on a wide variety of research projects, e.g. creating devices for reef restoration and air sampling devices to study aerosol and airborne infection transmission..
**What you need to succeed**
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to a degree in a discipline relevant to the position in conjunction with at least four years subsequent relevant experience preferably in an engineering environment.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ),or the ability to acquire RPEQ.
- Well-developed project coordination and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage resources (people and/or equipment) and prioritise workloads to ensure optimal project outcomes and service delivery.
- Demonstrated engineering/scientific ability to conceive, design, develop and implement solutions for technical problems and projects that may span a wide range of elements including mechanical, electrical/electronic, instrumentation, control, or other aspects.
- Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex problems and provide detailed recommendations while displaying initiative, contributing new ideas and proposing new technologies or processes.
- Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills that demonstrate a capacity to work effectively with stakeholders and colleagues, and the ability to produce detailed technical reports, procedures, processes, and planning documents for a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner.
