This role delivers the organisational governance and compliance frameworks, including policy,
delegations, compliance and legal management. It provides business improvement initiatives
in relation to policy and compliance management and seeks best practice in governance and
transparency. The role provides policy management through the preparation, review and
implementation of policies and procedures through comprehensive research and
benchmarking. The role delivers positive customer engagement with internal and external
stakeholders, and provides advice, instruction and training.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. To contribute to help Council deliver its sustainability goals.
2. To deliver the policy management framework, including organisational Policy Register
development and maintenance, oversight processes, system maintenance, data
management, policy review, drafting, report preparation and policy process administration.
3. To deliver compliance management framework, including to develop and advise internally
on legislative compliance oversight processes, legal referral and expenditure processes,
delegated authority, and compliance matters across the breadth of council functions.
4. To undertake research, analysis & benchmarking, including with respect to legislation,
standards, government circulars, industry guidelines and model policies in the preparation
and review of policy and procedures.
5. To prepare, review and support policies and supporting documentation development for a
general audience which considers best practice and implementation practicalities.
6. To undertake functions and adminstration including in relation to compliance and
governance processes, and improvement projects.
7. To prepare and present documents, reports, training materials and presentations.
8. To prepare correspondence and reports to a wide range of internal and external enquiries
and provide customer service, some of which may be complex and require negotiation and
complaint management processes.
9. Other duties as required, including administration and support across team functions,
special projects, and the provision of internal and external customer service.
10. To deliver the requirements for the Government Information Public Access (GIPA) Act and
Privacy and Personal Information Protection (PPIPA) Act, including receive and assess
and make determinations under the provision of these Acts.

**Workplace Health & Safety**

and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are not limited to:
identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your Supervisor or
Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative); never performing a
task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the experience, or have not
received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct equipment to carry out the
task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety

with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal protective equipment, which the
Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety aware and report any actions to your
line manager which will assist the Council to meet its legal workplace health and safety
obligations.
