**About the Organisation**

The Australasian Gastro‐Intestinal Trials Group is a leading cancer research organisation conducting vital clinical trial research and testing new treatments for gastro-intestinal cancer.

The GI Cancer Institute is the public face of the organisation and raises awareness and funds for research into gastro-intestinal cancer.

**About the role**

Finance Assistant will report to the Finance and Operations Manager in this exciting, newly created role - a great opportunity for someone looking to use their finance experience for good and kickstart their career in the for-purpose space, learning hands-on from an experienced Finance and Operations Manager in the charity sector.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure that all accounts payable duties are completed on time, effectively, and accurately - including gathering invoices, ensuring relevant approvals are in place, entering data into Xero, and processing payments via the online banking site.
- Assist with payroll-related tasks including leave requests, reimbursements, and reporting.
- Prepare invoices and maintain accounts receivable records.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and other end of month reconciliations.
- Ad-hoc duties required by the Finance and Operations Manager

**About you**

**will display excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work independently and within a team, with high attention to detail.**
- Bookkeeping qualifications or qualifications by experience, such as accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations and cash handling procedures
- Previous experience working with Xero (or similar accounting package)
- A positive attitude with a service-oriented mindset, be solutions-focused
- Strong written communication skills, be comfortable communicating with all levels of stakeholders
- High level of confidentiality and integrity
