**About the role
The Deputy Official Secretary (DOS) supports the Official Secretary by leading and managing the daily operations of Government House. As DOS you will directly manage a team of four department heads - the Director Communications and Engagement, Facilities Operations Manager, Hospitality Services Manager, and Director Corporate Services. This includes:
- Overseeing communications strategies and engagement activities tied to the Governor's responsibilities.
- Managing facilities and operations, including security and maintenance for Government House and the Estate.
- Directing the hospitality services to provide quality accommodation and catering.
- Leading corporate services to ensure smooth and effective operational support.

The Office of the Governor exists to provide executive, personal, administrative and logístical support to the Governor to fulfil the large number of constitutional, ceremonial and civic duties required both locally and internationally. Other key aspects of the Governor's role includes extensive community engagement across metro, regional and remote areas of Queensland, the promotion of Queensland business, culture and trade, along with the preservation of Government House and its Estate.
The Office of the Governor relies on the DOS to provide executive support, ensuring the Governor can fulfil the wide variety of functions and activities. The position demands a commitment to uphold the office's high standards and support the Governor's broad community engagement and promotion of Queensland's interests.

About you
To thrive in this role, you need to understand protocol within Government or related high-level contexts such as Military or Emergency Services. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, strategic leadership, corporate governance acumen, and financial management expertise are also required. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for this role. Ideally, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications.
After-hours attendance at official functions and travel within Queensland, interstate and internationally will be required from time to time to support the Governor.
