**About the role**

As a Finance Officer, you play a pivotal role in the reporting and analysis of the Department’s large capital programs. You’ll ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with government regulations, and support stakeholders in understanding financial processes.

Key responsibilities:

- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports for senior leadership
- Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies, including reallocations
- Manage general ledger journals for accruals, project costs, and overheads
- Contribute to ad-hoc financial reports and ensure compliance with relevant standards

**About you**
- Proven experience in reporting and analysis of large capital portfolios with multiple funding sources, e.g., consolidated, school, and external funding
- Demonstrated understanding of asset capitalisation processes
- Strong knowledge of WBS elements and financial reporting structures
- Advanced excel skills and experience working with large data volumes
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

**Essential requirements of the role**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
