In the role of Manager you will lead the development of complex and innovative policy initiatives, with specific relevance to Queensland ports, designed to shape key strategies, policies and plans for an integrated transport system across Queensland. You will be responsible for managing a small team and enhancing the capacity and ability of Transport and Main Roads' to deliver government priorities and meet stakeholder expectations with a particular focus on policy related to Queensland ports. You will also provide assistance to other teams across the Governance and Ports Unit when required.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Lead the development, coordination and implementation of complex strategic port initiatives, policy, frameworks and/or programs that provide, and support, the direction of the transport system in Queensland.
- Provide port related strategic policy input to a range of Departmental, Whole-of Government and National initiatives and project activities to support Queensland's transport system.
- Lead and manage the team to identify, research and analyse a broad range of issues, risks and challenges confronting ports within the broader transport system.
- Prepare, review and oversee the development of executive-level briefing notes, ministerials, reports, submissions, business cases and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards to effectively brief the Minister and other senior management on the progress of various policy initiatives and/or projects.
- Champion the establishment and ongoing existing effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across the department, local, state and federal governments, industry and the community to achieve strategic port priorities.
- Represent the department as required in relation to organisational and local, state and national port issues and policies.
- Lead and manage strategic port policy activities and projects (involving the division and other departmental staff) for the purpose of effectively coordinating the various project activities on time and within budget.
- Drive culture change to become focussed and customer centric and actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.

This position reports to the Director (Governance and Ports) and has 2 direct reports.
