**About the Role**
Drawing upon community development, youth participation and strengths-based principles, the position provides oversight and coordination of the YWCA Canberra Clubhouse.
The YWCA Canberra Clubhouse aims to provide young people in the Tuggeranong region with opportunities to develop interest and skills in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Music (STEAMM) fields.
The coordinator assists in the development and delivery of a range of service initiatives targeted at young people accessing the YWCA Canberra Mura Lanyon Youth & Community Centre, the YWCA Canberra Clubhouse and the Tuggeranong region. As a member of a multi-skilled team, the position will be involved in all aspects of service delivery, including drop-in supervision and activities, identification of needs, case management, referrals, program planning, resource identification, group facilitation, accurate and timely reporting and project evaluation.
This role is key to fostering a supportive environment where youth can thrive and develop their interests and skills.
**Program Development**:
- Plan and organize STEAMM activities to boost creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, planning, and leadership.
- Support and mentor Clubhouse members.
- Assist with educational and career planning, including the Clubhouse Network C2C program.
- Create and run outreach programs like Tech Time workshops, video projects, and school holiday programs.
- Host events to showcase members’ work and projects.
**Administration and Governance**:
- Handle administrative tasks and maintain accurate records, including statistics, youth surveys, reports, and social media updates.
- Build relationships with schools, sponsors, colleges, and STEAMM-related businesses.
**Young People Engagement**:
- Ensure a safe, supportive learning environment for all Clubhouse members and young people.
- Follow Clubhouse policies and procedures, including confidentiality and equity.
- Provide clear information and treat all young people with respect.
- Maintain high safety standards and consult with young people on program development.
- Offer informal support, information, and referrals, and supervise excursions as needed.
**About You**
You’re a tech-savvy, energetic professional with a passion for STEAMM. You’re skilled in using tools like Adobe Creative Suite and coding software, and you love staying up-to-date with the latest trends.
With a proven track record of engaging young people and understanding their challenges, you excel in creating exciting activities and providing support.
**Knowledge and Experience**:
- **Tech Savvy**:You’ve got hands-on experience in STEAMM and are comfortable with software like Adobe Creative Suite, 3D tools, coding, and game design.
- **Eager Learner**: You’re excited to keep up with the latest in STEAMM and expand your skills.
- **Youth Engagement Pro**: You’ve successfully worked with young people and know how to get them excited about various activities.
- **Youth Issues Insight**: You’re aware of the challenges young people face and how to help them effectively.
- **Diverse Background Experience**: You’ve worked with youth from diverse or disadvantaged backgrounds and understand their unique needs.
- **Group Facilitation**:You have experience or training in leading small groups.

Vocational or Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Community Development or Education or working towards obtaining.
